SFGSL Member Contract
Important registration policies, releases, responsibilities, and agreements for all SFGSL members and associates.
Registration Fees
Registration fees are non-transferable and non-refundable once the season begins. If SFGSL cannot place you on a team due to high demand, a refund will be issued.
Minimum Age
The minimum age for this league is 18. Identification may be checked at any time. Anyone found to be underage will be removed from the league and will not receive a registration-fee refund.
Weather & Scheduling
SFGSL reserves the right to shorten a season due to rainouts. We will make every reasonable effort to reschedule games or extend the season so games can be made up.
Acceptance Required Before Registration
Every member, including associates, must read and accept this Member Contract before registering.
Managers who accept the Member Contract agree that they have read all documents identified on the Manager's Checklist. Anyone listed on a roster who has not accepted this contract is not eligible to participate in the San Francisco Gay Softball League for the season being registered.
Release — Injury to Myself or My Personal Property
I hereby release the following parties, in their individual and representative capacities (“Released Parties”): (a) SFGSL and its sponsors, agents, players, and officials; and (b) the SFGSL Board, individually and as a whole, from any and all claims, losses, liabilities, damages—including, without limitation, property damage, bodily injury, or death—costs, and expenses of any kind whatsoever, whether existing now or occurring in the future, arising from my playing, participation in, or attendance at any SFGSL practice, game, activity, or event, or from any negligence, error, action, or omission to act by any Released Party (collectively, “Claims”).
Hold Harmless — Injury to Others or Other Property
I hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any Claims.
Player Responsibility for Procuring Insurance
I understand that SFGSL carries no medical insurance for any participant. I am solely responsible for securing my own insurance, and my team is responsible for securing its own insurance if deemed necessary.
Manager Familiarity With Rules
My manager has advised me that they have read the rules issued by SFGSL and has informed me of their contents.
Assumption of Risk
I assume all risks involved in my participation in SFGSL. I recognize that I am solely responsible for my decision to participate in any SFGSL game and that the release above includes, but is not limited to, a release relating to: (a) the maintenance or condition of the playing area; (b) the condition of appurtenances to the playing area, including courts, bleachers, and gyms; and (c) equipment supplied by SFGSL.
Sports Skills
I am familiar with the skills required to participate in the league conducted by SFGSL and have satisfied myself that I am proficient in those skills. The release above includes, but is not limited to, a release for SFGSL's failure to provide classes or technical instruction.
Member Code of Conduct
I acknowledge that I have received, reviewed, and fully understand the SFGSL Member Code of Conduct. By accepting this Member Contract, I agree to conduct myself in accordance with the terms of the Member Code of Conduct.
Manager's Statement
I agree to manage my team according to high standards of sportsmanship and to require players to recognize my authority over the team on the field and in surrounding areas. I understand that any player who has not accepted the Member Contract is not eligible to participate in the league. I have read, understood, and explained to my players the rules under which the league will be played. I agree to accept and abide by all SFGSL rules and regulations.
